Abstract

Short piece about Rwanda Bean Company and founder Mike Mwenedata. Mwenedata was orphaned as a child in 1994 during the Rwandan Civil War. After moving to Portland, Maine, he started a socially responsible coffee roasting business that sends 50% of its profits back to the coffee-farming communities in Rwanda. He has also been at work building a Rwanda Bean cafe in Kigali, Rwanda.
