Abstract

A profile of artist David Driskell and the first major exhibition of his work, David Driskell: Icons of Nature and History, presented jointly by the Portland Museum of Art and High Museum of Art in Atlanta. Briefly describes Driskell's life and work, culminating in this exhibition after the artist's death from coronavirus. Driskell's attachment to Maine and the area's influence in his work are stressed, as is his importance as a Black artist.
