Abstract
"North by East." A lifesize bust of Western-film director John Ford, of Portland, will be erected in Portland. The hulks of schooners Hesper and Luther Little, no longer photogenic, will be destroyed and removed from Wiscasset. Tourists in Maine often prefer walking to driving. And descriptions of the disc jockeying of Toby Boutillier of Maine Public Radio, which focuses on songs from between 1925 to the mid-1950s; the Twentieth Maine Regiment in the Civil War Battle of Gettysburg; and Maine Forest Service firefighting.
