Abstract
Brief essay exploring the complex relationship Maine has with the sea and the people who fish in it. Reflects on the now-defunct cod fishery and how warnings that collapse was imminent were ignored. Discusses the current state of the lobster fishery, questioning the wisdom of lobstermen's opposition to new regulations and environmental testing.
