Abstract

Text and photos combine in this story, which was published in partnership with the Maine Monitor and the Pulitzer Center. It is a study of the expected effects to the Maine coast of rising sea levels due to climate change. A brief essay on the challenges facing the state as a whole accompanies aerial photos of several sea-side communities with text snippets describing the unique threats each area faces. The communities included are Saco, Camden, Machias, South Portland, Damariscotta, Vinalhaven, Portland, Wells, Blue Hill, and Stonington.
