Abstract

A brief description of the work of Maine Big Night, a "citizen-science project" begun by Greg LeClair to keep tabs on the health of the amphibian population of Maine. Describes how LeClair and volunteers count frogs and salamanders crossing roads at night to reach breeding pools. Discusses the vulnerability of these species and efforts to keep them from being run over by cars.
