Detailed biography of painter Lynne Drexler (1928-1999). Describes the trajectory of her life from a Virginia childhood to New York City to Monhegan Island. Discusses the evolution of her work from an early association with abstract expressionism to a style all her own, and how life on Monhegan informed her art. Relates the circumstances and people who propelled Drexler's work from obscurity to the forefront of the art world two decades after her death.
