Abstract

"North by East." Although state law requires that every Maine student take a Maine history course, the latest textbook on the topic, "Dirigo," was published in 1970. Michael Alpert, director of the University of Maine Press, will publish "Finding Katahdin: An Exploration of Maine's Past" next summer, to bring order to a chaotic field.
