Abstract
Snow and Nealley, established in 1864 in Bangor by Charles Snow and Edward Bowdoin Nealley, started out making hardware for ships before it began producing the implements used in the area's booming lumber trade. Lois Nealley, widow of Edward Bowdoin Nealley's great-grandson William Bowdoin Nealley, brought her three sons into the business in 1990 when she faced bankruptcy, and sales of the firm's axes, gardening tools and other items have soared since then.
