Abstract

The Portland Public Library is temporarily moving its children's collection to the East End School in advance of building renovations and wants to expand the hours of the school library, known as the Munjoy branch, including when school is in session. Some parents and school committee members are concerned about student safety. Interim Superintendent of Schools Jeanne Whynot-Vickers said the library and the school has collaborated successfully on the issue over the past two years and that she was surprised by the "rumpus."
