Abstract
A look at old sites of tidal mills in Maine and plans by Tidewater Motel owner Phil Crossman and the Ocean Energy Institute to rebuild a granite dam on Vinalhaven and install experimental turbines to generate electricity. The Maine Maritime Academy is also developing a tidal testing facility in the Bagaduce River. There has been a surge in tidal power proposals in Maine following studies conducted by the Electric Power Research Institute and changes in federal energy policy.
