Abstract
An article that explores some of the issues associated with Maine's "brain drain" by examining the educational and career paths of five siblings from Great Cranberry Island. Over the past 20 years, 50,000 young Mainers have left the state for reasons such as education, employment opportunities, and travel. Maine has the oldest population of any state in the country. Four of the featured Gray siblings - Hannah, Josh, Martha, and Seth - have returned to live and work in Maine but are not residents of Great Cranberry Island and their sister, Molly, has settled in North Carolina.
