Abstract

A recollection by two members of the 2002 Gulf of Maine Expedition, a sea kayaking trip that was organized to promote awareness of the ecological and cultural importance of this watershed. The team paddled for five months, starting in Provincetown, Massachusetts, and ending at Cape Sable Island, Nova Scotia. The couple talks about the birds they saw, the herring weir they were invited to explore, and a right whale sighting. They also reflect on climate change -- not so much a topic of discussion during that 2002 trip -- and how some of the sights they experienced then would not be possible now.
