Abstract
In 1987, the Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences determined that New England flooding was carrying millions of cubic yards of toxic sediments down rivers and into the Gulf of Maine. Satellite images of the Kennebec River triggered a $100,000 research grant from Bath Iron Works to study the connection among the land, river, and ocean. Details, satellite maps.
