Abstract
Lumberjack Andy Arey and his crew use a log skidder, barge, and tugboat to cut large tracts of woods on Maine's smaller islands. Despite the environmental furor over clear-cutting on the mainland, island lumberjacks contend that the 20 cords a day they cut do not compare to the damage of a single "feller-buncher" used by large timber companies. Details, related article on the use of satellite mapping in island spruce management.
