Abstract

Editorial criticizing bureaucracy and over-regulation by the Maine Department of Environmental Protection. Hyde argues that businesspeople have self-interest in keeping their environment clean and will do so without government interference, but says that DEP personnel cutbacks will only confound the already delayed and overburdened permitting process.
