    Corporate president Vincent Furey wants Jackson Brook Institute to be a leader in the state's comprehensive regional mental health system, mandated as part of the consent decree to reduce the size of the Augusta Mental Health Institute. Despite its status as a private, for-profit hospital, JBI is integral to the state's response to deinstitutionalization, teenage homelessness, and national studies showing that 20 percent of the population to be mentally ill.
