Abstract

The six-year old Muskie Institute of Public Affairs at the University of Southern Maine will become the Muskie School of Public Service. Construction of a new $5.5 million facility in Portland could begin by 1998. New programs planned include a Center for Civic Culture, and Richard Barringer , who has directed the institute since its inception, promises two new graduate degree programs.
