Abstract

University of Maine economics professor Robert Jordan says that the future of Maine economic growth is in small business. Tourism provides many venues for entrepreneurs, and shopping has become a tourist attraction in itself. Jordan's study shows needs for small group tours, marketing of central Maine, special interest tourism in northern Maine, a focus on historical attractions, and expanding tourism into the spring and fall shoulder seasons.
