Abstract

"Focus on Down East." This has been a season of unrest at Bar Harbor Bankshares, culminating in a lawsuit claiming the bank's financial services cost one customer more than $150,000 from her retirement fund. Its long-established trust division had for years a finger in the financial-services pie, and it formed BTI Financial Group in 1999. Much of what happened then remains under wraps, and executives Paul Ahern and Bonnie McFee have become the subject of a number of legal actions by their previous employer (Maine Savings Bank) and their shareholders, as well as arbitration over their current employment.
