Abstract
"Business Leader of the Year." James Dowe, president and CEO of Bangor Savings Bank, credits his career to Woodbury Titcomb, whom he met while working in a ski shop. Last year Bangor Savings, the second-largest bank in Maine, acquired Advanced Payroll Plus, celebrated its 150th anniversary, and remained one of the longest-serving underwriters of Maine Public Broadcasting. Dowe executed his vision of modernizing the bank from a "community bank" and increased the number of its branches. He was also instrumental in creating Maine International Trading Center's Canada Desk. Details, related "From the Editor" column.
