Abstract

"Capitol Letter." Most of Gov. Baldacci's tax plans make him look like a Republican, but he would reinstate the "death tax," or estate tax; not conform to new federal tax requirements; and repeal the increase in the standard deduction for low-income filers. However, he would fully fund Business Equipment Tax Reimbursement and create a seven-member economic working group led by Chamber of Commerce president Dana Connors.
