Abstract

"Business Maine: Southern" piece reporting that Sappi must install fishways at five of its dams along the Presumpscot River, following the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission's (FERC) rejection of a company request to remove such environmental conditions from its hydroelectric licenses. Environmental groups praised FERC's decision, but said fish migration would still be blocked by Sappi's Cumberland Mills dam, which is closest to the ocean but lacks a fishway.
