    Abstract

    "Business Maine: Midcoast & Downeast" piece on International Paper (IP) Co., which, in an ongoing effort to lower costs, is planning to build a $3 million chip handling facility at its mill in Bucksport by the end of the year. The new construction comes amid rumors that the plant's two oldest paper machines may be shut down, a move the could result in up to 300 layoffs. IP says it is only looking to cut costs, and that none of the mill's 900 workers are expected to lose their jobs.
