Abstract
"Newsworthy" piece on Gilda Nardone, the first, and only, executive director of the Maine Centers for Women, Work and Community, which celebrates its 25th anniversary on May 6. Today, in addition to career planning and microenterprise programs, the centers also offer training in community leadership development and asset development. The organization has 33 employees in 18 locations across the state, and its budget is $1.6 million, raised through a number of private foundations as well as the state.
