Abstract

"Building & real estate" piece on the importance of site locations specialists in attracting new businesses to Maine. Joe Wischerath, executive vice president of Maine & Company, established a program in 1996 which brings location experts to Maine to educate them about the business side of Maine. Brett Bayduss, a Dallas-based consultant, first came to Maine through the program. While he's yet to bring a company to the state, he says it's a viable state for his clients. Bayduss says Maine's major drawbacks include accessibility. Site location consultant Don Schjeldahl says most of all, businesses look for communities that can build consensus about having a new business in town.
