Abstract
"Focus on Transportation" piece with an interview with Bill Atwood, 65, owner of William Atwood Lobster Company of Spruce Head, on what it takes to get his lobsters from the midcoast to just about anywhere in the world. Atwood is the third generation of his family to be in the lobster business. His fleet of trucks goes to Boston or New York airports or as far south as Virginia for special events. The lobster go on commercial flights. Flights out of Portland can't hold freight like those out of bigger airports, including Bangor. The retail business ships by FedEx and UPS. With details on logistics and on the disaster of Sept. 11.
