Abstract
"Maine Business" piece reporting that Christopher Hutchins and his son Charles "Chip" Hutchins of Bangor, have recently closed or divested from four businesses. Christopher Hutchins announced plans last month that he plans to pull the plug on Maine Times, the former alternative newspaper he purchased in 1999 and converted into a monthly lifestyle magazine last April. The last issue will appear this month. Hutchins also recently divested himself of his shareof Dead River Co., which founded by his father in 1907. Last year, he closed most of the operations of Snow & Neally, a 140-year-old Bangor-based garden tool manufacturer, citing financial loses. In December, Charles "Chip" Hutchings shut down a company of his own, Engineered Materials of Maine in Bangor, citing a lumber shortage. Brief details.
