Abstract
Bangor-based Evergreen Wind Power hopes to have 33 windmills turning in Mars Hill by November, which would make it the first such utility-scale wind development in Maine. Parent company UPC Group says its development approach starts by cultivating community support. The town gains economic benefits without having to add much in the way of new services. Evergreen avoided the community controversy that has beset such projects elsewhere.
