Abstract
"Focus on Western Maine" piece containing a question-and-answer interview with Lori Allen, 32, the community development director with the Growth Council of Oxford Hills, a regional business advocacy group in Oxford. Allen helped secure some of the $1.5 million to necessary to rehab the old Oxford County Fair expo building into a new home for the Western Maine University & Technical College (WMUTC) that the Growth Council hopes will help attract new industries to the region. WMUTC will provide education and job training for the region's workforce, which still confronts job losses in traditional sectors like wood products manufacturing. In her interview Allen talks about such things as the Growth Council, how WMUTC came to be, and expectations for it.
