From largest to smallest they are: Portland-based Hannaford Bros Co.; Bath Iron Works Corp.; Freeport-based L.L. Bean Inc. and Arkansas.-based Wal-Mart Associates Inc. (tied); Portland-based Maine Medical Center; Camden-based MBNA Marketing Systems; Massachusetts.-based Shaw's Supermarkets Inc. and UnumProvident Corp. in Portland (tied); Bangor-based Eastern Maine Medical Center and Jay-based International Paper Co. (tied); Portland-based Banknorth Group Inc. and Augusta-based MaineGeneral Medical Center (tied); and South Portland-based Anthem Health Systems, Augusta-based Central Maine Power Company, North Berwick-based Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, and Pennsylvania.-based Verizon New England Inc.
