Abstract

Portland area colleges report that despite a highly competitive job market, recent college graduates who are willing to accept entry-level positions have good opportunities. Most colleges do not keep accurate employment statistics, but non-traditional students, like those at Southern Maine Technical College whose average age ranges from 29 to 34, tend to have more realistic expectations and less apathy than younger students, who are more easily discouraged by job competition.
