    Abstract

    "Business Maine: Northern" piece reporting that J. D. Irving has withdrawn from Forest Stewardship Council's sustainable logging program because of disagreement with the council's sustainability guidelines for the Maritime. The company's Allagash Timberland's, a half-million acres in western Aroostook County, had been certified "sustainable" by the Forest Stewardship Council in 2002, drawing accolades from environmentalists.
