Abstract
"Focus on Human Resources" piece on how child care facilities in Maine are struggling to accommodate more children while contending with thin profit margins and high turnover. The Portland-based Alliance for Children's Care, Education and Support Services (ACCESS/CITE) recently received a federal grant. It has planned a leadership forum for later this month that will include discussion of Alex Hildebrand's new report "The Economic Impact of the Child Care Industry in Maine" and how growth of that industry might spur Maine's economy. Many experts believe businesses should think of child care as an investment in their company and a way to lower absenteeism.
