Abstract

Profile of Big Al's discount store, which has moved into a larger facility in Lincoln County. Owner Allen Cohen buys distressed merchandise from stores going out of business, auctions, and sales all over the east coast. He stocks about 10,000 items at any given time. Big Al depends on his marketing instincts, a clean store, and low prices to keep his store crowded nine months a year.
