Payson does not pursue growth for growth's sake, and despite large brokerage firms like Charles Schwab touting personalized services; H. M. Payson, Head & Associates in Portland, and Deighan Associates in Bangor turn a deaf ear to market hype. The small staffs at these companies screen stocks, do in-depth evaluations of clients' goals, build trust, and charge relatively small fees, but require a hefty minimum investment.
