Abstract

Profile of Dave Jourdan of Cape Porpoise, his company Nauticos LLC, and his project to continue his aborted 1998 search for Amelia Earhart's plane, which disappeared in 1937. He hopes to raise the plane and partner with a conservation organization to create a traveling exhibit. To help fund the $1.5 million project, he auctioned off extra berths on the ship on eBay. His auction drew no bids, but he's since lined up enough backers to give him confidence that the expedition will leave on schedule in March.
