Abstract
An article on the independent, Portland-based research firm The Corporate Library (TCL), founded in 1999 by Robert A. G. Monks and Nell Minow to analyze and rank publicly traded companies according to their corporate governance practices. TCL's products are designed to protect shareholders. Competition has increased since the collapse of Enron and other corporations, and under CEO Karen Lowell, TCL is trying to differentiate its role within the corporate governance niche. Its products include the Board Analyst and a Board Interlocks tool to track boards' performance and make-up, and a corporate governance screening tool.
