Abstract

"Newsworthy" piece with a profile of Republican Charlie Summers, 45, who unsuccessfully challenged U.S. representative Tom Allen last November and is now the Small Business Administration's regional administrator for New England. Summers moved to Maine in 1982 and managed the Bangor Motor Inn, gaining small business experience in several other enterprises that followed. He served two terms as a state senator and was staff director for U.S. senator Olympia Snowe for nine years.
