Abstract
Article on Casinos No!, the group credited with defeating the 2003 casino initiative, noting that gambling is still a hot topic in the state and that the group remains active in fighting the spread of casinos and racinos. Dennis Bailey, spokesman for the group, announced a reorganization in which Casinos No! will split into two separate divisions, one that will focus on education and fundraising, and the other on advocacy. Mike Saxl. former speaker of the House and an attorney at Verrill Dana in Augusta, has been hired as the group's lobbyist. Robert Tardy, a lobbyist for Scarborough Downs Harness Racetrack, believes gambling will help keep the struggling harness racing industry alive.
