Abstract

"Focus: Western Maine" piece on Stratton Lumber Company, with a look at how the firm has become more efficient in order to remain competitive in the volatile dimensional lumber market. Stu Miller, general manager, said that during that last few years, the firm has spent millions updating and modernizing its equipment. The biggest productivity gains have been in technology, with investments in optimization and scanning software. Founded in 1980, the company employs 75 workers.
