Abstract

"e-ME" piece on the Linux Terminal Server Project, which involves "thin client" workstations that boot up from a Linux server, a non-proprietary software program. David Trask would like to turn Vassalboro Community School and other schools into utopias of thin clients. He and Gould Academy's Derek Dresser offered seminars to K-12 educators recently. They say schools switching to Linux would save money in licensing fees and energy and maintenance costs, and that students prefer Linux.
