Abstract
"The Food Issue" piece on how wild salmon has gained market share and status from the farmed product. A Maine group called Eating Lots Better... Sustainable Seafood for Maine, concerns itself with the environmental and health impacts of farm-raised salmon. Freeport-based Harraseeket Inn has stopped serving farmed salmon. Maine salmon farmers are trying to counter that view. With details on Sam Zaitlin, who chairs the Maine Turnpike Authority and who has developed a niche market for Indian-grown wild salmon from Washington state, which he markets through Crystal Pacific Seafoods.
