Abstract
"Focus on Family-Owned Business" piece on the Richard E. Dyke Center for Family Business at Husson College in Bangor. Executive Director Cheryl Russell sees an increasing number of the state's small businesses closing. The center is launching Connect ME, a connection between small businesses and the Legislature, and the New Maine Initiative, to analyze and improve Maine's rankings on business-related indexes, such as the Small Business Survival Index. Despite the center's conservative bent and the fact that it duplicates other programs in the state, some believe the voice of small business can't be strong enough.
