Abstract

Article offering ideas for the reuse of Brunswick Naval Air Station (BNAS), which was put on the base closure list last month by the Base Realignment and Closure Commission. Rick Tetrev, retired Navy commander and former chair of the Brunswick Naval Air Station Task Force, would like to redevelop the base as an airline maintenance facility. L. Joseph Wischerath, executive vice president of Maine & Co., envisions a corporate campus on the grounds. Mitchell Rasor, architect and owner of MRLD, proposes a NACSAR track, a multi-use transportation facility, or the relocation of the Guantanamo base in Cuba to Brunswick. Roxanne Quimby, founder of Burt's Bees, encourages redevelopment from a military use to a peacetime use.
