Abstract

Freeport-based Maine Distilleries is crafting Cold River Vodka from Maine potatoes and western Maine waters in a bid for the lucrative top-shelf spirits market. The company's founders include Fryeburg potato farmer, Donnie Thibodeau, and former American Skiing Co. executive, Bob Harkins, now company CEO. Though the company has local support, its challenge will be gaining widespread distribution. It will soon test the brand's appeal with a marketing campaign and a Maine rollout.
