Abstract

"Focus on Professional Services" piece on the trend in Maine and elsewhere for law firms to shorten their names to improve marketing. In Portland, Bernstein, Shur, Sawyer & Nelson has become Bernstein Shur; Verrill, Dana, Philbrick, Putnam & Williamson is now Verrill Dana; and Preti, Flaherty, Beliveau, Pachios & Haley has shortened its name to Preti Flaherty. The Gardiner firm Farris, Heselton, Ladd & Bobrowiecki changed its name to Farris Law. Surveys confirm that the name Preti Flaherty is more accurately remembered by clients.
