Abstract
"Focus: Lewiston-Auburn" piece on Greene-based Maine Poly, the plastic and foil packaging manufacturer which ceased operations this summer due to financial issues. The decision to close Maine Poly came from investor Richard Dyke, who owns Bushmaster Firearms in Windham. Kimball Dunton, a former executive at Maine Poly, criticized the decision to close, arguing that Dyke should have been more patient with the company. In late October, New York businessman Morris Lowy bought the company's manufacturing equipment and this month was under contract to buy the 60,000-square-foot building from owner Bruce Daniel. Lowy said he has not decided if he will sell off the plant or open it.
