Abstract

"Focus on York County" piece on a proposed University of New England pharmacy school. UNE has said it will place the campus in the Maine town that offers rent-free facilities. Camden has offered a 10-year, rent-free stay in the Knox Mill complex, and Biddeford is hurrying to assemble an offer to site the school in its former textile mill complex. Many credit Mayor Wallace Nutting with establishing better rapport between Biddeford and UNE, which has a main campus on Biddeford's waterfront. A UNE pharmacy school might fill a niche as the only such school in northern New England and one focused on research of sea-based medicines.
