Abstract

"Focus on York County" piece on regular York County commuters on the Downeaster train to Boston, where a sense of community has been established. Cape Porpoise commuter Bill Lord runs the website Downeastriders.us, with details such as commuter profiles and bird sightings. The Downeaster was not originally conceived as a commuter train, and its schedule is not ideal for many commuters. A fifth run will be added that could alleviate congestion on commuter trains and make the trip easier for some commuters.
